First MR3 trial 1 of 3

Huge thanks to my club DC'swRingers, judge Donald Lee, trial decoys Scott Dunsmore, Spencer Bowman, and my training decoys Ethan Hall and Geoff Byram.

The theme was Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C.  We were perhaps a week early on the blossoms.

Kludde really only made one mistake that was his fault so while we didn't pass I thought he did really well and we are excited to trial again soon.

Check in

Food refusal - Moving ham is interesting.

Absence - Sit stay with handler behind.  Kludde's rear stayed planted.

Little wood - reminded him what I smelled like and he gave me a perfect, chew-free, sit presentation

New sport, cute communication

Kludde and I are, slowly, delving into disc dog.  Got a pair of competition discs and this was on the package.

Ft. Hunt fun

Kludde and Cricket did some tracking and we checked out some history too.

The park preserves the remains of the eponymous Fort Hunt, portions of which date to the time of the Spanish-American War. Remains of several of the fort's original batteries, including Battery Mount Vernon, Battery Robinson, and Battery Sater, and Battery Porter (named after Lt. James Porter, an officer who was killed at Custer's Last Stand at the Little Bighorn), have been preserved, and may still be visited today. The structures have been stabilized enough that visitors are able to climb on them without difficulty. Besides the batteries, the battery commander's station still stands; in addition, a flagpole has been erected as a memorial to the intelligence officers who served at the fort during World War II.
